Sooke Philharmonic Society

The newest member, the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra was formed in the fall of 1997 by violinist and conductor Norman Nelson and a few local musicians drawing from the strong but previously informal local music community. Since then the orchestra has grown to more than 50 members coming from Sooke, Victoria, and the Gulf Islands. A community orchestra which includes some professional players, its goal is to provide a high standard of performance while maintaining a relaxed atmosphere in which to foster further development for amateur musicians.
